Made in Japan Diameter: 9 1/2“ ARTIST STATEMENT My work is inspired by two intangible yet ever-present forces: the universe and the wind. Their elusive nature invites interpretation, and I express my connection to them through ceramics—a language of form, texture, and rhythm. I’m drawn to the movement of lines—parallel, tangled, fluid, or fractured—echoing the sound of wind, the fall of rain, and the flow of ancient symbols. These gestures carry emotion and meaning, becoming a quiet visual language across my surfaces. Using a muted palette of white, black, gray, and red slips, I create everyday vessels layered with subtle detail. I seek a balance between order and variation, precision and play. At its core, my practice is guided by curiosity and the pursuit of what is interesting—both for myself as a maker, and for those who live with the work. material: Clay: natural clays sourced from the Shigaraki region of Japan, including black, white, and red varieties.
